    @Bernadette Abraham Before BUPA, I was with Cigna through my workplace. They didn’t cover functional medicine tests.

    This time I purely stumbled across a consultant who is traditionally a medical doctor in endocrinology and functional medicine doctor.

    Otherwise, I was self funding my own lab tests, like GI map, Genova stool tests or any other functional medicine tests.

    Not sure where you’re based Yasmin. I’m with BUPA select plan and only came across by accident BUPA cover functional medicine test when I went to see a BUPA registered Endocrinologist consultant.

    Before the consultant ordered the tests, who’s also a functional medicine practitioner, I contacted BUPA to confirm if they cover functional medicine tests. It was under their 3 in one bundle diagnostics tests, they did. In my case, I had to do cortisol stress and will be doing a metabolomix plus test.

    @Bernadette Abraham no, I meant taking powder form of the slippery elm, DGL and marshmallow root powders with betaine hcl capsule. Could this work as well instead of the capsule forms.

    Thank you for your quick response B.

    Very helpful.

    Would powder form not protect the tissues if wanting to use betaine hcl?

    @Bernadette Abraham

    Yes we are.

    When my gut issues started, I was surprised to hear from practitioners that our bodies are designed to heal themselves when given the right approach.

    In the documentary, it also mentions parkinsons disease could be gut related. This is incredible. We have an aging global population and to have a treatment for parkinsons and alzheimers is much needed.

    March 28, 2024 at 6:01 am in reply to: Blood sugar level

    @Bernadette Abraham yes, the nurse mentioned women routinely have this test carried out during pregnancy.

    I read the ingredients list and it contained a number artificial preservatives and additives. Stomach felt awful during the two hours. took the slippery elm, marshmallow root and DGL powder concoction immediately afterwards.

    That’s good to know that you can drink your own glucose drink if allowed. I’ll bear that in mind.

    Hi B.

    Last Friday, I underwent a blood withdrawal for full thyroid panel and blood sugar regulation as well. The Glucose Tolerance Test wasn’t pleasant. I had to drink 250ml of extremely sweet drink. Awaiting results.

    The endocrinologist has ordered a Genova adrenal stress Test (CAR) and metabolomix plus test.

    @Yasmin atassi

    Please take a look at this website. There are manufacturers who might be within your budget as well and depending on your room size may be adequate.

    The only thing is, if the manufacturer or distributer available in the UAE.
