Test Food Sensitivities

The gold standard test for determining food sensitivities (which is an IgG reaction, not an allergic IgE reaction), is to perform an elimination diet & food re-introduction challenge. See the attached handout to learn more about the difference between food allergies/sensitivities ( and intolerances).

In a study done on children with chronic constipation, removing the reactive foods improved their symptoms. From experience, the same applies to adults and is worth the trial.

The most common offenders to remove from one’s diet 100% for a minimum of 30 days are:

  • Dairy
  • Wheat/gluten
  • Eggs
  • Soy
  • Yeast
  • Rice
  • Corn
  • Potato

These can be removed one at a time or all at once.

ACTION STEPS:

1. Download the resources on the right for instructions on how to perform the elimination diet and reintroduction challenge, as well as lists of foods containing hidden sources of dairy and gluten to be eliminating.

2. If you prefer blood testing, consider ordering a food sentivity test instead of/or in addition to the elimination diet.

3. Remove offending foods for a minimum of 4-6 months, while working to address the causes of ‘leaky gut’ and supporting the intestinal lining with these gut healing therapies.
