H Pylori Support

H Pylori (Helicobacter Pylori) is an endemic and contagious bacteria, meaning that it’s found transiently in many human guts (an estimated 30-50% of the world population) and is easily passed on to family members.

While H Pylori is mostly seen for its “bad” infectious inflammatory effects, here is a fascinating article about how it can be helpful at times.

However, when H Pylori is given the opportunity to flourish and overgrow in the stomach, it can lead to gastritis or an ulcer as well as suboptimal or low stomach acid (i.e. hypochlorhydria), along with its accompanying symptoms of hypochlorhydria. It is also possible that low or suboptimal stomach acid allows H Pylori to flourish in the first place!

It’s very important to address the root cause(s) of low stomach, or else H Pylori overgrowth will persist and recur despite conventional antibiotic or herbal antimicrobial use.

ACTION STEPS:

In the meantime, watch the video above. The following 3 different protocols can help reduce an H Pylori overgrowth while addressing the root cause:

Important note: if there is alot of burning and stomach irritation, consider a period of 30 to 60 days of gut healing with Designs for Health GI Revive (on Fullscript or iHerb) or Seeking Health’s Optimal GI or Thorne’s GI Relief (on Fullscript or iHerb) before attempting an H Pylori protocol.

Matula Tea:

Matula tea company offers a money-back guarantee (or a complimentary 1-month kit) if your ‘before and after’ functional stool test results (i.e. from Diagnostic Solutions or Genova for example) don’t show improvement.

  1. Seep tea in 100-150mL water. Consume 2 x per day on an empty stomach for 30 consecutive days; 30 minutes before food or 2 hours after food
  • Another 30-day course can be repeated as needed
  • Re-test after 45 days of finishing the course of tea

Read their FAQs for more info.

GastroMend & Broccoli Sprout Protocol:

  1. Begin with 2 capsules of GastroMend-HP (on Fullscript or iHerb) for 1 week on an empty stomach; 30 mins before food or 2 hours after food.
  2. If symptom-free, increase to 2 capsules, 2 x per day on an empty stomach for 30-90 days depending on strength of the overgrowth.
  3. Layer in 2 capsules of Broccoli Sprouts (on Fullscript or iHerb) for 60-90 days, depending on the strength of the overgrowth.
  4. Re-test after 60 days to re-evaluate.
  5. Consider introducing hydrochloric acid (HCl) supplements 4 weeks into anti-microbials to raise acidity with meals and prevent a recurrence. See attached handout for the hydrochloric acid supplement dosing challenge.

Note: to make this protocol even more effective, a helpful “bait & kill” strategy is to consider consuming a little baking soda (1/4 tsp) in water (1/2 cup) 30 minutes before taking the mastic gum/broccoli sprout combo to help draw out the H Pylori from its hiding place to be better exposed to antimicrobial action soon after.

This is the method conventional medicine uses with H Pylori antibiotic treatment. They usually prescribe antacids or PPIs along with antibitoics for better efficacy. Unfortuantely, there’s a high rate of recurrence with antibitoics, and not to mention the downstream consequences on the gut microbiome.

Silver Hydrosol Protocol:
