 to possibly help you out further – may I ask why you’d like to run these 2 tests? Do you have specific symptoms that you’d like to get to the bottom of? Or is just general curiosity and optimizing health?

 I think because we become slightly more insulin resistant, that our desire for carbs increases during this period. Right? Think about it… if we can’t shuttle sugar into cells as effectively, our cells starve/crave more sugar/carbs.

April 30, 2023 at 10:29 am in reply to: Tests

Hi – great question. We have this handout in the Resources that lists the many different tests for different circumstances which includes gut health and food sensitivity testing.

For general microbiome health & digestive function, I usually recommend the GI Map. You can find an explanation about this test here with a sample report inside the Gut Health Masterclass. If you’re in Dubai, we can help with the requisition to order this test. Just email support@bbettermembership.com and provide your name, email, phone number, date of birth, shipping & billing address (if different). Specify if you want the zonulin add-on (which helps determine intestinal permeability  (aka – leaky gut). I explain more in the video).

With food sensitivity testing, we also give our members access to the KBMO test (one of the best out there). If you prefer to do it with a lab in Dubai, we’ve partnered with Valeo Health – they also give our members a discount. I believe they run the Food Print food sensitivity test. You can setup an account here with Valeo Health and they’ll send you a nurse to draw blood.

Let me know if you have any clarifying questions.

April 30, 2023 at 9:36 am in reply to: Headaches

Hi ďťżďťż – can you please provide more information about this person and describe the headache. There can be many reasons for headaches so the more details you can provide, the more targeted we can be to help you out.

    How old is she?
Are they cyclical headaches with periods only? If so, when does she get them and how frequently?
Are they irregular/random headaches? And how often?
Does anything known trigger them (like the sun, eating certain foods, etc)?
Where does she experience the headache? Where is it located?
Is there a specific time of day that she experiences headaches (ex. morning, after exercise, etc)?

    Please let us know.

 I’m glad you’re gaining valuable insights about your unique body. Also keep in mind that women become slightly more insulin resistant during the luteal phase and less so during menstruation and the follicular phase.

April 28, 2023 at 3:34 pm in reply to: Calcification

I’m glad Daniel asked you for those lab markers, because he’s right, so much is missed from the conventional lens.

Just from these markers you’ve shared, I too suspect an issue with blood sugar given that his fasting glucose is 91 mg/dl. Anything above 90 is usually indicative of some form of insulin resistance.

Checking fasting glucose, fasting insulin, and HbA1C again would be a good idea.

I would also argue that his cholesterol and triglycerides are a little suppressed. Has he ever had a thyroid panel done? Does he have a liver panel we can look at as well (please include reference ranges)? How is his stress level? Would you say he has adrenal hyperfunction based on symptoms? You can watch this video here to learn about the symptoms.

April 28, 2023 at 1:34 pm in reply to: Hi B,

oh my!! No one should be on PPIs for that long. These medications should be used for short-term pain relief only.

I’m glad you’re here with us so we can help you get to the root cause and hopefully help you reverse this symptom!! Correct, acid reflux is more often than not, caused by hypochlorhydria (low stomach acid). Please start by watching this video on the causes of hypochlorhydria inside the Gut Health Masterclass.

And then watch this video for a simple at-home baking soda challenge that you can do to test for low stomach acid. Let us know if you do it and share your results.

Next, we’ll discuss what tests to get done to start confirming/ruling out the possible causes of hypochlorhydria.

April 28, 2023 at 1:26 pm in reply to: Hi B,

ďťżďťż I don’t have any experience with this product but I did look it up and it seems to be an oral anti-inflammatory medication. So yes, you are correct, it is for symptom-management and will not be addressing the root cause.

All drugs and medications have side effects. There is a time and place for them, and the benefits have to outweigh the risks. If you are in extreme pain, it might offer you the relief you need to buy you time to figure out the root cause. If not, perhaps you can try the other more natural solutions we suggested first.

I would also encourage you to find a homeopath or naturopathic doctor who can help you dig deeper and investigate all the possible causes Daniel and I shared with you.

April 28, 2023 at 1:19 pm in reply to: Find Your Accountability Buddy

ďťżďťż thank you for chiming in. We will start compiling a list as more people volunteer their names/locations to help connect and group you all together.

By the way, that’s how  and I met. We were accountability buddies while studying functional medicine at the same school.

  • I LOVED this call with Dr. Elana. So practical and well thought out and presented. I guarantee you’ll walk away feeling like “ok, now I have a framework and plan of action to help me sift through the overwhelm” instead of feeling so fearful and confused about the taboo topic of vaccines. If you’re a parent or know someone with questions about vaccines, please make time to watch it!

Even though it focuses on childhood immunizations, the framework she teaches can apply to any age!

April 28, 2023 at 12:25 pm in reply to: Detox

Hi – if you’d like to support detox, I would encourage you to focus on opening up your drainage pathways. We have 6 main routes of drainage in the body, and I discuss what all of these are and how to support them in this video here “open drainage pathways” inside the Mold Detox course. I share lifestyle suggestions like enemas, dry brushing, etc and supplements that support each of these pathways, so I think it will really help answer your question of “what to do”.

It’s not necessary to do them all, or do them all at the same time. Ideally, it’s important to focus on and support your weakest drainage pathways.

In the next video, “order of drainage support“, I share which drainage pathways are the most important pathways to start with, which will answer the question of “how to detox”.

Please make time to watch these 2 videos, and let me know if you have clarifying questions.

April 28, 2023 at 12:18 pm in reply to: Anxiety – Homeo meds

I also wanted to chime in here and add to Daniel’s great reply.

I would encourage you to watch the video on different healing modalities in the Adrenal Balance course for you to explore these therapies further. I share resources for finding practitioners globally.

And I share an additional modality (neurofeedback) in this healing modalities course inside the Mold Detox course.

Working on releasing your trapped emotions is truly going to be transformative for you, and I’m happy that you’re working on this.

The next step (or in conjunction) would be to work on gut health as there is a direct connection between gut and mental health. I have seen anxiety vanish when clients worked to improve their digestion and microbiome health. Would you say you have any digestive/gut related symptoms as well?

If so, we can guide you to some videos and resources to be working on in conjunction with emotional healing.

  • Fantastic post . Are there any other tips other than disengaging with the person who gaslights & setting boundaries, or are these the main 2 things to do?

ďťżďťż do you have a specific type of product in mind? Like moisturizers, cleansers, toners, serums, retinol, etc?

I personally love and use the Odacite line of products as well as NakedPoppy’s day and night serums/retinol. B Better members get 15% off NakedPoppy (code BEBETTER15) which is a marketplace for clean/vetted products and makeup. They are located in the US, so a mail forwarding company is needed to redirect the products to Dubai.

You can also take a look at our Brands We Love handout which shares some of my favorite products and discount codes.
