Thanks for your reply! My doctor did not give many specifics on the root cause, only that constipation is the root.
I agree with your assessment and am hesitant to take the antibiotic which could as you described, become an endless cycle. I will check out the resources you recommend!

I was able to get a hydrogen breath test done by my doctor and the results came back with high amounts of methane in the large intestine.
