Thank you so much for your response.

I wanted to follow up to make sure I’m approaching the next steps in the right order, as I’m feeling a bit unsure about what to prioritize first and what can wait now. I’m attaching my Selenium result from October for reference and wanted to ask whether you feel this result is still recent enough to act on now, or if it would be better to re-test selenium before starting supplementation.

You mentioned iron, zinc, vitamin A, and selenium as key nutrients for T4 to T3 conversion. From your perspective, is there an order you would recommend (for example, nutrients that should be addressed first before others), or anything that should be in place before introducing selenium specifically? I looked into testing availability locally and it seems that only serum zinc, copper, and selenium are available, and I wasn’t able to find RBC versions. Since my iron is suboptimal can I also go ahead and start with that? Or does it also need to be combined with something? Similar to magnesium and D as I recall you once told me?

I also wanted to circle back to vitamin B12 and ask whether you’d suggest starting this now in the form I have, and if so, at what dose and frequency. Would you recommend pairing it with folate, or should something else be in place before introducing it?

I want to make sure I’m following the right order and not supplementing without benefit or overloading my system, especially if certain nutrients are better introduced together or sequentially.

Thank you again for your continued support and guidance.

Hello @Bernadette_Abraham Follow up questions on supplementation so thought best to add to this thread- hope that’s okay.

I went through the Mineral Balance course (the micronutrient dance was really interesting) and reviewed the supplement timing handout and Vitamin D, as always, very helpful.I’m about to start magnesium and wanted to double-check a few things given my sensitive system:

    1) Is starting with the full 150mg okay, or would you recommend opening the capsule and beginning with a lower amount? And should I ideally increase that intake to more than one capsule?

    2) I take ProbiotaX immediately after dinner, so I’m unsure how best to time magnesium. Would you suggest taking it with dinner or before bed (~2 hours later)?

    3) As you advised keeping magnesium on board for about 2 weeks before adding vitamin D, I just wanted to confirm whether any other minerals need to be in place first, as I’ll be adding zinc, B-complex, and possibly iron. You mentioned there’s no order when it comes to replenishing minerals, I wanted to cross-check now that I better understand the magnesium & D relationship and having to go super slow with the B complex.

    4) Lastly, since my zinc is low-normal rather than deficient, the timeframe you suggested is taking it for one month before adding in copper- or possibly adding the Zinc balance recommended in the mineral balance course and I also want to note that I am still on Zinc carnosine as well so got confused here about how to go on about the Zinc specifically with my current level, the brand I was planning to get is the Seeking Health Zinc Bisglycinate (hope that form is okay as it’s not mentioned in the course), should I just get the Zinc balance from now instead or just do it for a month- retest and then add copper regardless?

    Thank you so much

That makes sense. I’ll also add zinc to my supplementation plan.

I wanted to ask about my attached urine results, which showed some abnormalities.

Symptomatically, I’ve noticed slight irritation or discomfort lately, some cloudy urine, minor itch, and mild on-and-off lower abdominal pain, nothing major. I’ve also been drinking a bit less water, which might be a factor.

What would you recommend, should I try anything like cranberry or D-mannose, or just focus on hydration and observation? Could this be gut or histamine related too?

I started the Selenium today, I did some more tests yesterday along with the Zinc and Copper as well, would love your feedback on them and what to do next.

    Thank you

I’ve ordered the methyl-free B complex by Seeking Health, along with their Optimal Magnesium, D3 with K2, and iron chewable as well.

I’ll test copper and zinc tomorrow before deciding whether to start the iron and how to move forward with those minerals, watched the video you shared!

In the meantime, I’ll go ahead and start supplementing with selenium as you previously advised with food. When this was discussed I was told to have either DGL or selenium, unless I misunderstood, is it okay to continue taking both along with all the other supplements I’m using?

I’ll also update once zinc and copper results are in for further guidance please.

    Thank you, I appreciate you!

Thank you again. I just wanted to clarify a couple of points before moving forward.

The Thorne Basic B contains methylcobalamin, and I’m not sure a methylated B12 is appropriate for me right now. Would a non-methylated B-complex (for example from Seeking Health B Minus or B complex MF) be a better starting option?

Also regarding thyroid support, I recall reviewing combo formulas in the past and chose to work with single nutrients instead, which is why I got selenium (and kelp granules). I will test the Serum Zinc and Copper as recommended too and will definitely get into the Mineral Balance course for iron.

    Thank you

I ended up discarding that batch, I’m going to start fresh and use one of the activation methods you suggested and hope it works out this time! Will update. Thank you so much for the reassurance and detailed explanation.

    Good morning @Bernadette_Abraham

I wanted to give you a quick update and get your advice please.

I followed the exact steps to make homemade rice milk, then adding the powdered kefir starter and added 1 teaspoon raw sugar, stirred all. I loosely covered with cloth and fermented it at room temperature (~24 hours). Room temperature was around 22c.

After 24 hours there was no tangy or sour smell at all, it actually smelled neutral, like plain rice milk. It also separated which I understood is normal in non dairy milk however the kefir powder was sitting on top undissolved at all so I decided to stir it and stirring didn’t change anything so it seemed like my first attempt was a fail, not sure if this has to do with the kefir packet I used or something I missed.

I just wanted to check with you before trying again:

Would you recommend letting it ferment longer next time? Increasing the sugar slightly?

Or any other guidance and advice to get it right this time?

I have attached images of when I first opened it after 24 hours and then my attempt to stir it to see if it would change anything.

    Thank you so much

Yes, the milk and water kefir grains can be delivered to my location , should I get both?

Thank you for confirming the probiotic, will order that too.

December 4, 2025 at 1:30 pm in reply to: DAO

    Good afternoon,

    Hope you’re both well @Bernadette_Abraham @Daniel

I’m currently safely back on Zinc Carnosine 75 mg and DGL 75 mg once daily. I haven’t reintroduced the bitters or enzymes yet, slowly easing into bitters on tongue gently due to continuous sour taste and digestion fluctuating between constipation and diarrhea. Also easing into taking marshmallow root and slippery elm for support.

I would appreciate guidance on the next steps.

Previously I was told to take Quercetin after DAO, but after the overstimulation I didn’t continue it or take it again at all. I wanted to clarify the safest order now:

    1. Do I have to reintroduce bitters and enzymes before starting Quercetin, or is it fine to begin Quercetin even while slowly bringing bitters/enzymes for it to help with overall histamine and mast cell stabilization?

    2. Once Quercetin is tolerated, I’ll add ProBiotaX as Daniel recommended- but does this step also need to follow bitters and enzymes being back on board?

    3. Regarding DAO, should I keep it only for rapid relief, or should I take it once daily away from food as a supportive means for the overall situation?

As a small side note: I’ve been having persistent dry skin with red rash-like bumps on my face and sometimes red blotches. Could this also be from histamine? It does get worse in the sun too.

Thank you- just looking not to destabilize my progress again and yes I am still working on my nervous system above all 😃

    Hi @Bernadette_Abraham

I have been trying to source live kefir grains with no luck, I was wondering if introducing it in supplement form- a gentle one such as BioGaia, Protectis® Baby, Probiotic Drops, 100 Million/L. reuteri DSM 17938 (L. reuteri Protectis®)- I acknowledge its for infants but thought it would be better than nothing and more suitable for my current sensitive nature?

Regarding the probiotic for yeast infection, as coconut oil doesn’t seem to have fully cleared things and I didn’t find the exact one you sent- is this the same?

    Attaching images of both!
