Daniel replied to the discussion Mastic Gum in the forum Brand Recommendations & Ingredients 2 years ago
Hey ,
It isn’t well researched, although I usually don’t recommend stopping anti-acid medications while using mastic gum. You might have seen this in one of the research links I have posted above (this one probably).
I have not seen any problems with my clients and in research, mastic gum has been found pretty safe to use also… Read more

Hi! My daughter is 6 weeks pregnant. This is the same daughter that has struggled with vertigo, migraines and gut issues.
Hey ,
First of all: congratulations! What wonderful news!
With pregnancy, hormones do shift for sure! Estrogen rises quickly during the first trimester of the pregnancy which can lead to nausea. This meta analysis from 2014 concluded that the use of ginger (∼1 g daily) for at least 4 days is associated with a 5-fold likelihood of… Read more

Hey ,
The short answer is: yes!
I also will recommend it to my clients who deal with H. Pylori infections. There is some research which concludes that mastic gum can also help with dyspepsia and ulcers.
An older study from 1984 found that mastic gum in 38 people could improve the symptoms of duodenal ulcers. Those who took 1 gram (g)… Read more

Daniel replied to the discussion Hypnic Jerks in the forum Home Health & Biohacking 2 years ago
Hey ,
Seeing someone jerk/twitch when they fall asleep can be quite unsettling. This phenomenon is called a ‘hypnic jerk’. A hypnic jerk is not:
• a form of epilepsy
• a form of a seizureIn fact, it is pretty common (this article suggests 60-70% of the people experience hypnic jerks) and most of the time harmless. It can however cost… Read more

Daniel replied to the discussion Mackeral in the forum Diet, Food & Nutrition 2 years ago
Hey ,
I don’t have much experience with preparing Mackerel. I usually don’t use many herbs with fish either. If you can tolerate fresh herbs, personally I like fresh dill on top with a drizzle of olive oil, put the fish in the oven and you are done. Usually, I would put a few slices of lemon on top, but you can leave them away. It will… Read more

Daniel replied to the discussion Thyroid Blood Panel in the forum Thyroid, Adrenal & Sex Hormones 2 years ago
Hey ,
I am not familiar with the company, but I see this panel checks fasting insulin as well. They do have some iron markers added in this panel (but unfortunately no iron!) which with low stomach acid doesn’t hurt to retest after March.
You asked what the difference was between active B12 and B12: Active B12 is when B12 is bound to… Read more

Daniel replied to the discussion Water Filter in the forum Home Health & Biohacking 2 years ago
Hey ,
Reverse Osmosis water filters can filter out microplastics in water. There is a wide ‘range’ of sizes when it comes to microplastics. Microplastics are usually plastics that are smaller than 5mm in length. Then there is a group of plastics that are even smaller called nano-plastics and they range from 1 to 100 nm.
The way… Read more

Estrogen Dominance (part 2): What Causes Low Progesterone?
Last week I wrote about estrogen dominance and the basics of how the female cycle works. If you missed this, just click here. Today I want to focus on progesterone. As I discussed there, in the luteal phase of cycling women, progesterone usually rises high. But what does progesterone do again?
