B’s Delectable Dark Chocolate Almond & Berry Clusters
I have no doubt that at some point you have probably heard or read about the benefits of chocolate – dark chocolate that is.
In fact, I even discussed the benefits of raw organic cocoa powder in a recent TV interview here.
I mention that the cacao fruit has been referred to as the “food for Gods” because of its extremely beneficial properties such as being high in antioxidants, magnesium, sulfur, healthy fats, and other minerals and vitamins.
A milk chocolate bar on the other hand that is infused with flavors, sweeteners, hydrogenated fats and preservatives is a far cry from chocolate that is pure and unprocessed.
To take advantage of chocolate’s healthy properties, it is best to choose a chocolate that has a higher percentage of cocoa.
For all of you chocolate lovers out there, I have a dark chocolate treat that not only tastes and looks great, but is actually healthy for you – in moderation of course.
Enjoy these sinful bites of bitter, sweet and sour and try to refrain yourself from eating the whole batch at once!
Ingredients:
200g organic 70% dark chocolate
¾ C dry almonds, chopped in chunks*
¼ C dried currants*
¼ C dried pomegranate*
Parchment or wax paper
*You can substitute with any other nuts and berries that you prefer like pistachios, cashews, unsweetened cranberries and goji berries.
Directions:
1. Melt chocolate in a double boiler. Approximately 5 minutes.
2. Add the chopped nuts and berries of your choice and mix until well coated.
3. Drop spoonfuls of the mixture on parchment paper and refrigerate for about 1 hour.
4. Keep them in a sealed container in the refrigerator to avoid the chocolate from melting if you live in a hot climate & enjoy!
Let me know what you think!
