    Hi @Bernadette_Abraham  and @Daniel  ,

I made chicken bone broth (1kg bones) for the first time as I just purchased an instantpot.

Unfortunately, it turned out very liquidy. I’m not sure whether you make it or not, but wanted your experience.

Do you think it was down to:-

    1. Not enough bones even though I used 1kg bones

    2.  I didn’t use ACV. I avoided ACV due to the gastritis

    3. No vegetables.

    4. Instantpot settings used

    – cooked for 30 mins to avoid histamine build up

    – low pressure

    – Natural release

Hi  – so the ratio of bones to liquid should be 2-3 pounds (~1-1.3kg) of bones to 4 quarts of filtered water (16 US cups / ~3.8 liters).

You didn’t mention how much liquid you used but I don’t think an Instant Pot can hold more liquid than that right?

And when using a pressure cooker like an Instant Pot, it’s not necessary to use apple cider vinegar – although I don’t believe it would affect your gastritis if you did since such a small amount is used. It’s simply to help extract the minerals from the bones better.

Broth/stock should be liquid when hot but how you can tell if you extracted enough gelatin is by putting it in the refrigerator. If it forms a gel when cold, it’s a successful attempt!

    Let us know.

     hello.

    The instatpot holds 5.7 litres.

I think I used 2.5 to 3 litres of water enough to cover the bones.

Please see pics. Not much fat after taking it out of the freezer just now.

I made the mistake of placing it in the fridge after cooling it outside first. I put it  in the freezer.
